The Virtual Light Company

The Virtual Light company is my holding place and trading name for software development. Here you will find most of my software that I've developed for various books, specifications and whatever else takes my fancy at the time.

Wherever possible I stick to the GNU philosophy and release all my work under the GNU GPL or LGPL as appropriate. This is not for any deep philosophical reasons, I just happen to prefer the types of restrictions these licenses use. I also use the BSD-style license as necessary for most of my examples for stuff that I expect you will cut and paste in to your application. As a developer, I deeply understand that mindset, where it is easier to start by C&P code from some example and then work out how to modify it to our own needs.

Over time there has been a lot of software developed for various books and standards. Much of this has fallen out of active maintenance. Therefore it has been broken into two separate pages Current Projects and Old Projects. Most of this software is available through Subversion as well.
