Another one in my list of quickfire chapters for Sams.net. Again just an introductory chapter to VRML integration with Java. This chapter was an updated version of the Gurus chapter brought into line with the then current API. It also expanded on a few topics to make it more useful to Java programmers.
Java 1.1 Unleashed carries an update of this original chapter with my name as author and some guy called Bruce Campbell as having revised it. I am not very happy with it at all. He does more to break the concept of a universal language than anything with his additions. Considering what was happening at the time with CosmoPlayer no longer supporting java in the Script node and CommunityPlace support being fairly sketchy at best, I think it is one of the worst things that could have been done. I was not consulted when this took place, in fact I have NFI who this guy is. I haven't yet seen any Java 1.2 updates to comment but I haven't been asked to make any contributions.
